Craftsmanship in Timber
Recent Projects Showcasing Planning, Precision and Detail
When it comes to timber flooring, planning, precision and craftsmanship matter.
These installations require careful planning, intricate detailing and skilled finishing to achieve the quality expected in design led environments. Our teams have delivered a number of recent timber projects that demonstrate this expertise, combining technical installation with a genuine respect for the material.
Timber flooring brings warmth, character and natural texture to interiors, but achieving the right result demands far more than simply laying boards. From complex layouts and setting out to on site sanding, staining and oiling, every stage of the process requires attention to detail and a skilled approach.
Recent projects at the University of Liverpool, Mollie’s and Soho House Manchester highlight how timber flooring can enhance a space while meeting the practical demands of busy environments.
Liverpool School of Architecture, University of Liverpool
At the School of Architecture at the University of Liverpool, our team installed engineered natural oak flooring from The Solid Wood Flooring Company throughout key spaces within the building.
In a building dedicated to the study of architecture and design, the materials used within the space play an important role in shaping the environment in which students learn and work. Timber flooring brings warmth and natural character to what is otherwise a clean and contemporary architectural setting, complementing the exposed concrete and structural elements within the building.
The boards were installed at a 45 degree angle across the various spaces and interfaces throughout the building. Installing timber on a diagonal requires particularly careful setting out to ensure the floor maintains consistent alignment as it moves through different areas and architectural transitions.
The flooring was fully bonded to a raised access floor system, delivering stability and long term durability in a busy educational environment where both aesthetics and performance are equally important.

Mollie’s Motel
At Mollie’s, the timber installation formed part of a carefully considered interior designed to create a welcoming and characterful hospitality environment.
Within Studio IV on the lower ground floor, reclaimed oak was laid in a herringbone pattern. Once installed, the floor was hand sanded, stained and oiled on site to achieve the final finish.
Reclaimed timber is particularly well suited to hospitality spaces, where its natural variation and texture help create an atmosphere that feels authentic and lived in. The herringbone pattern adds a sense of craft and detail that elevates the interior while remaining timeless in its design.
Working with reclaimed timber brings its own challenges. Each board carries natural variation in colour, grain and character, meaning the finishing process requires careful attention to achieve a balanced and consistent result across the floor.

Soho House Manchester
Another recent timber project was completed at Soho House Manchester, located on the historic site of the former Granada Studios.
Soho House is known for creating distinctive spaces that combine heritage, design and hospitality. Timber plays an important role in achieving this atmosphere, bringing warmth and richness to interiors that are designed to feel both luxurious and relaxed.
Here our team installed reclaimed oak panels which were hand sanded, stained and oiled on site. The use of reclaimed timber adds depth and authenticity to the interior, reflecting the character of the building while delivering a premium finish suited to a high-end hospitality environment.
On site finishing allowed the team to carefully refine the tone and appearance of the timber, ensuring the final result worked seamlessly with the wider interiors.

Precision Behind the Finish
Timber flooring can appear effortless once installed, but achieving that level of finish requires careful planning and skilled workmanship.
From accurate setting out and bonding methods to working with reclaimed materials and on site finishing techniques, every stage of the installation plays an important role in the final result.
These recent projects demonstrate the breadth of timber flooring solutions our teams are able to deliver. Whether installing engineered boards in architectural environments or reclaimed oak in hospitality settings, the focus remains the same: delivering floors that combine craftsmanship, durability and attention to detail.
