Great Park Academy, Newcastle

Objective
Great Park Academy is a new secondary school in Newcastle delivered by Galliford Try, providing a permanent, purpose-built learning environment for over 1,200 pupils. The project replaces temporary accommodation and delivers modern facilities designed to support education, wellbeing, and long-term use.
Our role was to deliver a robust, high quality flooring solution capable of supporting the demands of a busy school while contributing to a welcoming and functional environment for students and staff.
Approach
Working closely with Galliford Try, our team installed over 8,500 m² of flooring across teaching spaces, circulation areas, sports, and specialist facilities. The specification was carefully selected to balance durability, safety, acoustic performance, and ease of maintenance.
Teaching and circulation areas were finished with resilient vinyl flooring suited to high footfall environments, while carpet finishes were installed in quieter spaces to support acoustic comfort. Entrance areas were completed with high performance matting to manage traffic and protect internal finishes.
The sports hall, activity and drama studios were fitted with sprung timber flooring installed on a cradle and batten system, providing the performance, resilience and comfort required for daily use by pupils and staff.
Installations were carefully phased to align with the wider construction programme, maintaining quality and supporting timely project delivery.
Result
The completed academy provides bright, welcoming and practical spaces that are already being enjoyed by pupils and staff. The flooring package plays a key role in how the building feels and functions, supporting learning, movement and everyday use across the school.
